Falconry Equipment
As with most elements of falconry, equipment is an art in itself. Many master artisans have dedicated their lives to perfecting the craft of making falconry equipment. Much of the equipment is optional, and at the discretion of the falconer, or falconry sponsor, but at a minimum the state of North Carolina requires:
1. One pair of Alymeri type jesses
2. One flexible, weather-resistant leash
3. One swivel of accepted falconry design
4. Bath 2-6” deep and wider than the raptor’s length
5. One reliable scale graduated to 1/2 ounce (15 grams) or less and capable of weighing up to five (5) pounds
6. One portable outdoor perch (block, ring, or bow) for each raptor
7. One pair of falconry bells of suitable design and size
